Week 11 of this project asked for a photo with emotion. My kids… they are FULL of emotion. They swing from screaming with frustration and anger to screaming with delight in nanoseconds! We are a heap of tangled and ever changing emotions in this house! But being able to capture that in a photograph is challenging.
Most of the manic episodes aren’t “camera-ready”. They aren’t moments where I want to stop and grab the camera. Yes they are important but there are some moments where my kids need me and not a camera in their face.
Of course my favorite emotion is happy. I love when my kids are happy. They have the most infectious smiles and their laughs are so genuine.
This week has been exceptionally warm and sunny. (Which isn’t something we’ve seen a lot of in the weather forecast since we’ve been here.) So we spend almost every waking moment outside. Today we met friends at a playground on post for a playdate.
Maddie just figured out how to slide without falling backwards and going down on her back. She can also navigate the stairs to the top of the slide all by herself. Henry thinks this is the best! But he also lacks the patience to wait for her to clear the slide before descending himself. (We’ll get there!)
Today’s happy playground moment was bittersweet for me. I’ve been applying for jobs as I work towards going back to work full-time. In fact, I have a second interview for a position at the Red Cross tomorrow! And while going back to work is what I want and what will be good for the family, I am sad that I won’t have random sunny Thursday mornings to play with these kids!
